The house we had purchased in Nanoose Bay, in 2016, was to be a temporary flip. But we quickly fell in love with it and decided not to build. The house is a one story bungalow with red roof and California style facade. I dreamed up the Italian villa renovations. Big part of the plan was a colourful, large art on the main house wall. Prices for fine art can be very high and I developed an ambition to create something of my own. It had to be big, it had to be colorful, it had to be Italian, and it had to be good enough to hang. I have purchased the images I loved and big blank canvases. I was thinking BIG!
The first painting “Tuscany Dreaming 1” was 31”x 24”. It pleased me and it looked awesome on my wall. Colors fit the decor and I was pumped. “Tuscany Dreaming 2” happened soon after and I felt it good enough to enter the piece in Nanaimo Art Council show. It was on display in Local Theater gallery for few months. Luckily it did not sell it as my wall was awaiting the triptych. The most ambitious piece is 47”x 31” and has the most vibrant colors and depth. I made some necessary changes to the image that do not agree with me personally but art is art. I did hang all three paintings in winter 2017 and have enjoyed them tremendously over the years.
I have since purchased two more sets of same 1.5” canvas so that even support screws do not have to move... Next set shall be the Provence lavender so stay tuned.
And by the way.....Do not fret. I will not be bombarding you with these stories every day. This is temporary while I curate my display page. After that you will only see most recent creations before they are stored or hopefully sold.
