I fell in love with an image that appeared somewhere, on facebook, I think. We were visiting Jr in Ontario. My son wanted something small for his new apartment wall. Intrigued by the earlier image I had purchased a box if cheap soft pastels and black paper pad. I had hoped to recreate the image I liked. I have since lost the link so cannot give the credit.

It took only minutes to draw and I was immediately hooked on pastels!  It seemed to force me to simplify, to think large shapes. It required unique techniques to imply the content. Most artists struggle with departing the representational approach. Expressive art is very hard to do! Pastels seem to free my spirit. My drawing and sketching training and experience seem to fit naturally with this medium.
